Get IT Security Manager in Oracle Cloud without the need of any other user

Without IT Security Manager job role in Oracle Fusion Applications, you won't be able to do a lot of things inside the application. Think of it as System Administrator responsibility of Oracle EBS. Not every worker of any Organization is given the role of IT Security Manager as it can provide them the access to almost everything inside the application. But if you are a Developer/Consultant then you must have this role. In case, if you don't have this role and you also don't have any other user or you can't tell your Boss to add this role for you, then you are at the right place 😉.

Today, I will tell you how you can get this role (in fact any role) without much trouble and through simple steps.

Prerequisites:

Human Capital Management Integration Specialist job role must be attached to your user which simply means that you have the access to the HCM Data Loader of Oracle Fusion. After checking this, proceed with the following steps:

Steps:

First, you need to know the person number attached to your user which you can simply do by using the Reports and Analytics work area and using the following SQL Query.

Refer to the below screenshots.

Navigator → Tools → Reports and Analytics

 
  

Click on Browse Catalog.

Click on New → Data Model

Click on SQL Query and paste the above SQL Query in the SQL Query field.

    

Click on Query Builder to see the Results directly.

  

You can see from the below screenshot that my user does not have IT Security Manager job role yet.

Now that you know the person attached to your user, you need to download the User.dat file which you can download from My Workforce → Data Exchange → Initiate Data Load as shown in the Below screenshots.

  

  

After downloading the User.dat file, put the below lines in your User.dat file and save it.

COMMENT Data for Business Object: User Version: V2 Created on: 01-12-2016
METADATA|User|PersonNumber|Username|Suspended|RoleCommonName|AddRemoveRole|CredentialsEmailSent|GenerateUserAccount
MERGE|User|300000001313215|shashank|N|FND_IT_SECURITY_MANAGER_JOB|ADD|N|Y

Here, FND_IT_SECURITY_MANAGER_JOB is the Role Common Name of IT Security Manager job role. You can put any job role here which you want to add to your user.

Remember to put your Person Number and User Name in the above MERGE line. Now, compress the above User.dat file to upload it on the server. 

Note:- If you want to lock the User account, simply write Y in the Suspended field.

Now, you need to import the above User.dat file and load the data present inside it. Follow the below screenshots.

My Workforce → Data Exchange → Import and Load Data

  

Click on Import Local File and select the User.dat file.

 

 

Click on Submit.

 

 

Once the process gets completed successfully, you need to do one last step which is to run the "Send Pending LDAP Requests" through scheduled processes.

Once the process is completed, IT Security Manager job role will be added to your user. You can use the same SQL Query to confirm.

 

Log Out and login again in the application to see the changes. Once, you get this role, then you can attach any role to your user through Manage Job Roles task.

Now, the big Question arises here, what if no person is attached to your User?

The answer is simple. Attach a person to your User and then follow the same steps.
